Job Requirements

1. Operating heavy-duty trucks: Safely driving large commercial vehicles over long distances, adhering to traffic laws and road safety regulations.
2. Planning routes: Using GPS navigation or familiarity with routes to plan efficient trips that consider traffic patterns, weather conditions, and rest stop locations.
3. Performing pre-trip inspections: Conducting thorough visual inspections of the truck and trailer before each trip, checking tires, brakes, lights, fluid levels, and overall condition to ensure safe operation.
4. Following safety protocols: Maintaining a safe driving distance, adhering to speed limits, and being aware of blind spots to minimize accidents.
5. Loading and unloading cargo: Securing cargo safely using straps, tie-downs, and other necessary equipment. In some cases, operating forklifts or other equipment to assist with loading and unloading.
6. Verifying cargo: Checking cargo against bills of lading to ensure correct pickup and delivery of goods.
7. Maintaining accurate records: Completing paperwork related to the shipment, including logs, bills of lading, and inspection reports.
