Job Requirements

Housekeeping attendants, also known as room attendants, play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness, comfort, and hygiene of guest rooms in various establishments like hotels, motels, resorts, and even hospitals. Their responsibilities can be categorized into three main areas

1. Cleaning and tidying guest rooms: This involves tasks like vacuuming carpets, mopping floors, dusting furniture and fixtures, emptying trash cans, and making beds.
2. Changing bed linens and towels: Replacing used sheets, pillowcases, and towels with fresh ones is crucial for maintaining hygiene and guest comfort.
3. Replenishing guest room supplies: This includes ensuring adequate stock of toiletries like soap, shampoo, and conditioner, as well as other essential items like toilet paper and disposable cups.
4. Reporting maintenance issues: During their cleaning rounds, attendants may identify malfunctioning equipment, broken fixtures, or other maintenance problems, which they should report to the appropriate department for repair.
5. Responding to guest requests: Attendants may address simple guest inquiries or requests, such as providing extra towels, directions, or information about hotel amenities.
6. Respecting guest privacy: Maintaining guest privacy and confidentiality is paramount. Attendants should avoid entering occupied rooms unless expressly requested and be discreet while cleaning vacant rooms.
