Data entry operators are essential members of most businesses, tasked with the responsibility of collecting and entering data into the organization's systems. The job description for this role depends on the kind of industry an individual is employed in; however, some common duties include: 

Data entry operators must be able to identify source documents such as customer orders, invoices and other forms, accurately transcribe information from these documents into databases or spreadsheets, verify data by comparing it to source documents and correct any errors. Additionally, they must research any discrepancies or missing information when necessary. It is important that data entry personnel follow instructions carefully and keep track of their work progress daily. They should also have excellent knowledge of computer operations such as word processing programs and spreadsheet applications.
