Job Requirements

Storekeepers, sometimes called stock clerks or inventory control specialists, play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth operation by managing the flow of stock in a storeroom or warehouse. Their responsibilities can be categorized into three main areas:

• Receiving and Storing: Storekeepers unload deliveries, verify quantities and condition of items against purchase orders, and ensure proper storage according to designated locations and protocols.
• Stock Control and Maintenance: They maintain accurate inventory records through cycle counts, track expiration dates for perishable items, and rotate stock to prevent spoilage or obsolescence.
• Issuing and Fulfilling Orders: Storekeepers handle requests for supplies or equipment, pick items from storage, prepare them for dispatch, and maintain documentation of issued items.
